I know I haven’t blogged via tumblr in forever but there’s a reason…I have a fun filled blog that you can find at www.hesthegaygourmet.com and running two blogs, even if the content is the same is more exhausting and more work than the average person should have to do.
So ive decided to use my tumblr as a daily what am I eating forum. I figure that this whole picture a day for 365 is so popular why shouldn’t I hope on that band wagon? That should be easy enough, right? I’ll do my best not to disappoint! So without further adieu…
Day 1 - my jury duty day 2 bialy. Now I love a bialy but this one was the worst I’ve ever had. If you don’t know what a bialy is Wikipedia provided the definition below.
Bialy, a Yiddish word short for bialystoker kuchen, from Białystok, a city in Poland, is a small roll that is a traditional dish in Polish Ashkenazi cuisine. A traditional bialy has a diameter of up to 15 cm (6 inches) and is a chewy yeast roll similar to a bagel. Unlike a bagel, which is boiled before baking, a bialy is simply baked, and instead of a hole in the middle it has a depression. Before baking, this depression is filled with diced onions and other ingredients, including (depending on the recipe) garlic, poppy seeds, or bread crumbs.
Guess I need to go on a NYC hunt for the best bialy huh?
